We know it's a difficult choice to make. We also know there are just as many stories of setbacks as there are success stories in our industry.

Answers to the questions we hear most

Everything you need to know about debt review, repayment plans, and how AfriSkuld works with you.

How many years will I pay you back?

Repayment terms mainly depend on your outstanding debt and what you can afford. Current interest rates also have an impact; they are often reduced but never increased. A larger interest reduction can also shorten the term. Because every client's situation is unique, timelines differ from person to person. Most clients typically take between 24 and 60 months to settle their debt. You also have the option to pay more or settle your account in full to finish sooner. Will I be "blacklisted"?

AfriSkuld does not blacklist its clients. Even consumers with poor credit records will have their profiles "cleaned up" when they join. For more information on how your credit profile will look during and after your repayment term, complete the contact form.

Will AfriSkuld keep my house and vehicle safe?

Consumers who took on debt after 2006 have more rights and protection under the National Credit Act. AfriSkuld helps protect your vehicle or home from legal action. As long as you do not miss payments and cooperate (as with any credit agreement), your assets can remain protected. Ask our staff about credit life insurance, which may protect you against unforeseen losses.

What if I lose my income?

Ask our staff about credit life insurance that can provide cover for loss of income. This option may protect consumers who temporarily lose their income against unexpected losses.

How much less will I pay?

Each person's repayment amount and savings differ. Our average client pays over R4,500 less per month. We've seen reductions of over R20,000. People with above-average outstanding balances typically pay significantly less. To find out how much you could save, complete the contact form and speak to one of our consultants.

How long does it take to sign up?

The sign-up process is simple and fast. First, we determine whether you qualify, after which you complete the application form. Since we know paperwork can be frustrating, our client service team is trained to assist you. For your convenience, all documents can be signed electronically on your computer or smartphone.

When will I feel relief?

You will experience immediate relief with AfriSkuld's help. We will set up an affordable preliminary repayment plan. Under this plan, you make a reduced monthly payment to a Payment Distribution Agency (PDA), which then distributes the funds to your creditors. Ready for debt relief? Click here.

Why should I consider this?

One of the key benefits of debt review is protection against legal action and potential repossession of your assets, provided you stick to your repayment plan. It also simplifies your financial obligations into one affordable monthly payment. AfriSkuld can also negotiate lower interest rates, which positively impacts your outstanding debt. They act as mediators between you and your creditors, making communication easier. The approved repayment plan provides a structured way to get your finances back on track. Start benefiting today.

How do I stay informed about my application's progress?

We have a skilled team of client service consultants who handle each client's situation with respect and care. They are trained to address any uncertainties.

Do I have to appear in court?

No. AfriSkuld's legal team and partners represent clients in court, so you can focus on what matters. Find out more.

Is AfriSkuld trustworthy?

AfriSkuld is trustworthy. Our reviews on HelloPeter reflect the quality of service we provide.

Does AfriSkuld pay my reduced instalment on my behalf?

The consolidated debt remains the responsibility of the consumer who incurred it. However, AfriSkuld's experienced team negotiates on your behalf for reduced instalments and interest rates.

Does AfriSkuld offer consolidation loans?

AfriSkuld is not a financial credit provider and therefore does not offer loans. Find out more.

Will I be protected against legal action from creditors?

Debt review provides protection against legal action from creditors, as long as you adhere to the terms of the restructured repayment plan. This creates a safer environment for you to regain financial stability.

How can I stay financially healthy after debt review?

Create a realistic budget, consolidate your debt, be mindful of your lifestyle, save for emergencies, make smart purchasing decisions, develop a positive mindset around money, and be patient.

Does debt review affect my credit score?

Yes, when you apply for debt review, your credit score may initially decrease because your accounts are marked as "under review." However, by sticking to your restructured payment plan, you build a positive payment history, which can improve your score over time.

What are my rights regarding debt review?

South Africans under debt review have the right to apply for debt review, be protected from legal action by credit providers for up to 60 business days after application, receive a fair and confidential assessment of their financial situation, be placed on a restructured repayment plan, receive clear communication throughout the process, exit debt review once obligations are met, have their assets protected from repossession, and be assured of regulated and fair fees for debt counselling services.

How can AfriSkuld help me with too much debt?

Causes of over-indebtedness include overspending, income loss, high interest rates, and unexpected medical expenses. AfriSkuld offers debt review, where qualified debt counsellors work with you to create a personalised repayment plan and negotiate with your creditors to reduce monthly payments and interest rates.
